يُطلق الاستثناء RangeError عند إعطاء تعبير نمطي غير صالح. إذا نفَّذنا السطر البرمجي التالي:
Regexp.new("?")
فسيُطلَق الاستثناء RangeError بالشكل التالي:
RegexpError: target of repeat operator is not specified: /?/
